like a bruise on unblemished fair skin
wanting never to be seen
like the stench of decomposing rubbish
cloaking the beauty of a wish
where sorrow and pain meet
as the lost shuffle their feet
with red-shot eyes of grief
the times of joy are brief
while the fragile heart may falter
losing the will to battle
there yet is always love
from our God above
who takes us by His hand
and is gracious to the end
for those who seek with earnest
